Thanks for visiting the web site of The Parish of Aberavon! We hope the information you find will be useful to you, that you will catch some of the enthusiasm we have in our Parish, and be encouraged to visit us. The ancient parish of Aberavon traces its history back to the 12th Century, when monks still lived at Margam Abbey.

Today the parish ministers to much of the town of Port Talbot, the Sandfields estate and surrounding communities.

The Rectorial Parish of Aberavon is in the Diocese of Llandaff, part of the Church in Wales.
As a parish of the Church in Wales we are committed to upholding the historic faith in Jesus Christ revealed to us in Scripture and the Creeds, within the Anglican tradition that emerged in the 16th Century here in the United Kingdom.

The aim of this web site is to inform Parishioners about the activities of their local church whilst at the same time giving potential visitors to the area a little insight into our four Parish Churches: St Agnes, St Mary's, St Paul's and Holy Trinity.

You can find your way around this web site using the drop down menu's which appear when the cursor is over the church name giving information on organizations within that particular church also by using the navigation bar on the left side of the page. There are special sections of the site devoted to each church, and a general section, covering weddings, baptisms and more which can be found under “What we do”.

If you are interested in history; Aberavon was granted Borough status in c,1304-1307 by Leisan ap Morgan, Lord of Afan its boundaries were similar to those of the ecclesiastical parish of Aberavon. The current St Mary's Church site dates back to the 11th century there is detailed history on all of our churches on this web site.

If you are new to the Church, or just interested in finding out more about Christianity, take a look at this web site or visit one of the churches in our Parish to find out about Jesus' teachings in a friendly and relaxed way, a warm welcome awaits you.
